Installation of PAROC Hvac Lamella Mat GreyCoat

PAROC Hvac Lamella Mat GreyCoat is a non-combustible stone wool for thermal and condensation insulation of ventilation ducts and equipment. It has a reinforced aluminum foil facing.

General instructions

  • During the installation, both the object to be insulated and the insulation material should be at a minimum temperature of +10 Celsius.
  • Allow the temperature of the insulating material to adjust to the ambient installation temperature.
  • Always store the tape at room temperature.
  • Check that the surfaces to be joined with tape are clean and dry.

Follow these instructions to insulate straight pipes:

PAROC Hvac Lamella Mat GreyCoat installations Cut the mat to the appropriate length.
For circular duct: π x [D + 2 x ins. thickness, and for rectangular duct: [2 x width ] + [2 x height] + 8 x Insulation thickness] and add 2-3 cm extra.
Before mounting the mat on the duct, all openings for t-joints or access panels should be cut out.
Clean the facing carefully.
Apply suitable tape on the joint.

In order to secure the installation, additional fasteners are required.

Option 1 - Galvanized wire

Put galvanized wire around the lamella mat.
Lock the wire. Three wires per section are needed.

Option 2 - Galvanized wire, spiral winding

Spiral winding of the galvanized wire. Lock the wire one time per lamella mat.

Option 3 – Bands

There are different plastic or metallic bands available that can be used.
Three bands per lamella mat are recommended. Do not apply the bands with too much force, since the facing might break.

Option 4 - Tapelock

Put the tape around the lamella mat.
Use the “tapelock” method where the tape is fastened glue against glue. Three tapings per lamella mat is needed.
Fold the tape so that the glue side is attached to the facing.
For cold installations where the facing is used as a vapour barrier,
you need to tape all circumferential joints with joint with Paroc GreyCoat tape.
Use the “tapelock” method where the tape is fastened glue against glue.
Fold the tape so that the glue side is attached to the facing.
Cut the mat to fit before mounting on the duct.
Tape the joints carefully.
